Course Duration

Delivered over 2 days, face-to-face.

Upon completion of the training, learners must complete 20 hours of work placement along with additional practical observations.

Course Content

• Manage traffic flow and operate communication devices effectively.
• Control traffic at intersections where signals have been turned off.
• Direct traffic safely on high-volume roads.
• Ensure compliance with all Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
• Implement safe work procedures to manage traffic and road users when signals are deactivated or reactivated.
• Communicate regularly with clients, team members, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Prepare to implement traffic management plans in accordance with site requirements.
• Set up and monitor traffic guidance schemes.
• Supervise and coordinate the work program efficiently.
• Identify and resolve routine operational problems.
• Conclude work activities and maintain accurate operational records.

Course Outcome

The combined skill sets equip learners with the knowledge and practical abilities required to manage and control traffic operations.
This includes overseeing traffic controllers and road workers in line with the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management
for Category 2 environments on urban streets and low-volume rural roads.

Upon successful completion of all course requirements and assessments, learners will receive:

• A Traffic Training Management (TTM) ID card issued by the Department of Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) upon final approval.

The units of competency include both theoretical and practical components.

TC2

• Learners must complete a minimum of 20 hours of practical training and work placement in a Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) environment, recording all evidence in the provided logbook within a six-month period.
• The work placement must be undertaken on approved Temporary Traffic Management Category 2 roads within six months of successfully completing the theoretical component. If required, One Stop Traffic Solutions can assist in arranging your work placement through One Stop Traffic Solutions.

TMI2

• Learners are required to attend a practical assessment conducted by One Stop Traffic Solutions, demonstrating their ability to implement traffic management plans on high-volume and signalised intersections across at least three live traffic projects. Learners must also demonstrate setting up traffic guidance schemes and controlling traffic on high-volume roads and signalised intersections on a minimum of two separate occasions.
