Course Details

The Traffic Management course offered by One Stop Traffic Solutions provides participants with
the practical skills and theoretical knowledge required to safely manage and control traffic in various work environments.
This training is designed for individuals involved in road construction, maintenance, and event management where temporary traffic control is required.

The course is delivered over 3 days, followed by additional post-training requirements.
After completing the classroom component, students must complete 20 hours of work placement,
two workplace-based observations, and a Final Assessment. These activities ensure that participants gain hands-on
experience in real workplace conditions.

Course Content

• Prepare to control traffic on high-volume roads.
• Control traffic and operate communication devices.
• Control traffic at traffic signals where signals have been turned off.
• Ensure WHS (Work Health and Safety) requirements are adhered to by all personnel.
• Implement work procedures to control traffic and road users when signals are switched off and back on.
• Communicate regularly with clients, personnel, and other relevant parties.
• Prepare to implement a traffic management plan.
• Set out and monitor the traffic guidance scheme.
• Monitor and coordinate the work program.
• Diagnose and resolve routine problems.
• Close down work activities and maintain operating records.

Course Outcome

Upon successful completion of all course components, students will receive:

• Statement of Attainment issued by ATC for each skill set.
• Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) card issued by One Stop Traffic Solutions — valid for 2 months while awaiting the physical card.
• Physical TTM card issued by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT).

The course includes both theoretical and practical components, consisting of 2 days of classroom-based learning and 1 day of simulated practical training. Attendance on all days is mandatory.

TC1

• Students must complete a minimum of 20 hours of practical work placement in a Temporary Traffic Management workplace and record their evidence in the provided logbook.
• The work placement must take place on declared Temporary Traffic Management Category 1 roads within six months of successfully completing the theoretical component. One Stop Traffic Solutions can assist in arranging this placement.
• It is recommended that students complete the TC work placement before beginning the TMI observations; however, both may be undertaken concurrently if preferred.

TMI1

• Students are required to be observed on two separate occasions, across two different set-ups, by a qualified supervisor while gaining TMI experience. The practical requirements for implementing traffic management plans must be fulfilled on declared Temporary Traffic Management Category 1 roads within six months of completing the theoretical component.

Final Assessment

• After completing the TC work placement (Log Book) and two TMI observations, students must undertake a Final on-site assessment. This will be coordinated by One Stop Traffic Solutions and conducted by an accredited One stop Training Assessor.
